Here’s what will get you banned from riding with Uber

If you’re into paying surge fees, avoiding eye contact with strangers and having your location tracked, ride-hailing service Uber is the place for you.

But slow down, cowboy, it’s not all fake laughs and awkward conversations on your way from A to B. As with all regular taxis, there are unwritten rules to follow – y’know, ones like not projectile vomiting through the pay window.

In order to clear up any confusion, though, Uber has revealed exactly what a customer can’t do when riding with the service.

“If we are made aware of these kinds of problematic behaviour, we will contact you so we can investigate them,” Uber explains. Then, depending on the nature of your Uber violation, the company may temporarily ban your account.

So, here’s a breakdown of some ways to get zapped by Uber.

Bringing a gun along for the ride

“Whether you’re in the front or the back seat, buckle up when you get into the car – and please leave your guns at home. Of course, drivers have a particular responsibility when it comes to safety at Uber. That means keeping to the speed limit; not texting while driving; always using a phone mount; and never driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” the community guidelines section states.

So, essentially, you do your bit by leaving illegal firearms in the drawer and Uber drivers won’t get the narcotics involved on the journey. Seems like a fair trade-off.

Stalking

Sure, while you might think you had a great time discussing your night out with the driver, there’s a wildly strong chance this should be the first and only conversation you ever share. That’s why Uber has outlined “texting, calling, or visiting someone in person after a ride has been complete” as a bit of a no-no.

Riding dirty

“You shouldn’t touch or flirt with other people in the car. As a reminder, Uber has a no sex rule. That’s no sexual conduct with drivers or fellow riders, no matter what. And you should never hit or otherwise hurt a driver or fellow passenger.”

Makes sense. Back to Tinder for crushing rejection, instead.

Being uncool

Again, while you might think you’re the life and soul of the Uber party, “asking overly personal questions, using verbal threats, and making comments or gestures that are aggressive, sexual, discriminatory, or disrespectful” will see you taking the bus in a flash.

Don’t vomit, obviously

Even if you managed to avoid elevating conversations to medium talk, brandishing weapons and stripping naked, you can still see the red card for damaging the car, breaking a phone, intentionally spilling food or drink, smoking or vomiting due to alcohol.
