Apple removes app to help you find lost AirPods from app store
Since Apple took away our headphone jacks (RIP), all we have left to lose is our wireless AirPods… literally.
While Apple’s wireless earbuds for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus — AirPods — may look cool, there’s no denying the small, ear-sized speakers have the potential to get lost easily.
An app called Finder for AirPods was created to remedy the issue, but just when we thought all our problems had been solved, Apple mustered up the “courage” to remove the app from the App Store.
MacRumors reported that the app, which cost $3.99 in the App Store, was created by iOS developer Deucks to make our lives a whole lot easier.
The app had the ability to inform users of their lost AirPod’s location by measuring the Bluetooth signal strength and leading them to it.
Finder for AirPods sounds like a dream come true for careless AirPod owners, but the creator of the app said it was deemed inappropriate for the App Store because Apple reportedly disliked the idea of people being able to locate their AirPods, according to MacRumors.
Innnnnteresting…
Though the app had some flaws when it came to lost AirPod proximity, and its reported “You’re getting closer” and “It’s around here” hints could get a bit frustrating, we have a feeling using the app would be a lot more fun than paying $69 to purchase replacement AirPods.
