You can buy Nike’s Back to the Future
Marty McFly’s amazing self-lacing Nike trainers from Back to the Future: Part IIhave just become more than a movie prop.
The sports brand has just announced the HyperAdapt 1.0, a shoe with a sensor inside that automatically tightens the laces when it detects a heel. Great Scott, etc.
Nike did actually make real-life versions of Marty’s Air Mags, though only sold them in very limited quantities.
The HyperAdapt 1.0, which has buttons either side for adjusting the fit, is a consumer product but will be exclusive to members of the company’s Nike+ fitness service.
They will be available in three colours during the Christmas season.
With hoverboards in circulation (sort of), self-drying jackets popping up on Kickstarter, and Pepsi Perfect getting a limited run, Back to the Future II‘s predictions are looking near-prophetic right now.
We can’t see fax machines ever making a comeback, though.
