iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to Boast These New Features and Changes
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will change the button press combination used to both power off and force the devices, says an anonymous source that claims to have knowledge about the new iPhone lineup pre-launch.
Owners of recent iPhone models, like the iPhone 14 Pro power off or reset their handsets by simultaneously holding either the up or down volume buttons while also holding the Side button.
There have been rumors that Apple will replace the iPhone 15 Pro’s mute switch with a physical “action button.” The new button is also rumored to be customizable, much like this year’s Apple Watch Ultra Action button.

The new “action” button will take on the role of the up/down volume buttons when resetting or turning off the iPhone 15 Pro models, says leaker “941” on Twitter.
“The volume up and power button will no longer be used to power off the device, or ‘force-restart’ it,” he further tweeted. “The sequence remains, but the combination will be changed to action and power button.”
The leaker also posted a follow-up tweet claiming that the “Action” button will take the place of the volume-up button to take photos in the Camera app. Force sensitivity is said to allow a light press to auto-focus the camera, a hard press takes the photo, and a hard, long-hold press records video
We’ve seen several other sources say that Apple has decided to drop the solid-state unified volume button we’d been expecting to see on both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, delaying it for another model year or more. Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the decision is due to “unresolved technical issues.”
However, 941, who has in the past been accurate when it comes to pre-release information about Apple products, says the feature still coming to the iPhone 15 Pro lineup.
Would You Like a Frosted Glass With That?
Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have a frosted back glass, just like the current iPhone 14 Pro models, according to a Weibo post. The post from last came from an account that accurately predicted the Yellow iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.
The frosted glass back would make the lower-priced iPhones resemble the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Although the upcoming Pro and Pro Max iPhones are expected to sport a new titanium frame and thinner display bezels, the two standard models are said to retain the same bezel size and aluminum frame as the current models.
Apple traditionally brings features that were “Pro-only” features to its lower-end iPhone models after a year or two of Pro exclusivity. OLED displays were only on Pro models until the iPhone 12 was released and the Dynamic Island feature on the current iPhone 14 Pro lineup is expected to make an appearance on the entire iPhone 15 lineup.
Apple will likely debut the entire iPhone 15 lineup in September, which is the traditional month for iPhone unveilings.
