How to Set Important Expiration Date Reminders in the Shortcuts App

The Shortcuts app has a broad range of capabilities, from sending messages to controlling smart home devices. Among its many capabilities, Shortcuts includes one straightforward but important feature: Expiration Reminders.

Creating Expiration Reminders
Follow these simple steps to create an Expiration Reminder in your Shortcuts app:
- Open Shortcuts. If you can’t locate the app, use the search feature at the bottom of your home screen.
- Tap Gallery in the bottom right of the screen.
- In the search bar, type “expiration.” A green Expiration Reminder icon will appear. Tap it.
- On the next screen, tap Add Shortcut.
- Return to the Shortcuts app by tapping Shortcuts on the bottom left of the screen.
- Tap All Shortcuts.
- Tap the triangle/exclamation icon in the top left of the Expiration Reminder box
- Add the item you wish to track
- Select the date and time and tap Done
You’ll receive a notification reminder on the date and time selected. You can tap the reminder to read the details, then swipe left to delete it.
Expirations Reminders are a useful tool to set reminders for the expiration of products like food, medications, warranties, and subscriptions.
