Check Out This Cinema-Grade Lens System for Your iPhone With Magnetic Filters

Are you an aspiring iPhone filmmaker or live streamer? Maybe you’re a global traveler and want amazing quality for your personal videos, all from the convenience of just your iPhone. If so, here’s one way to improve the quality of your films or streams at a huge bargain. You’ll also have a leg up on your competition, at least for a while.
TUSK, a collective of production companies and professionals focused on democratizing filmmaking with simple, accessible mobile solutions has teamed up with smartphone photography gear maker, ShiftCam. Together, TUSK and ShiftCam are launching the TUSK Cinema Series mobile lens system.
It’s the world’s first “cinema-grade” system according to its Kickstarter campaign, which has already surpassed its goal by nearly $80,000. If you want to be one of the exclusive owners of the full kit, there are only 13 of the first 50 left. They’ll start shipping in August of this year. As an early backer, you’ll join global brands like Adidas, Sketchers, and Coke, that have already used the lens in real productions.

The kit includes seven lenses, eight magnetic and stackable filters, five filter adapters, and two iPhone cases, all made of aerospace-grade recycled aluminum. The kit works with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, 15 Pro and Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models (except for the 16e). The complete kit is available for $1,949 ($1,465 off the retail MSRP of $3,414).

The lenses are made from the same fluorite crystal found in high-end cinema lenses for clarity, color, and minimal distortion. Each lens has 14 specialized coatings, seven on each side. These layers include anti-glare, scratch resistance, hydrophobic, and UV/IR protection. Each stackable and magnetic filter locks into place with a simple twist, as does each lens.

Tusk identifies ten ideal use cases for the full kit:
- Discreet filming in crowds
- Fast-paced b-roll
- Overhead & tight space shots
- Quick transitions between shots
- Budget friendly aerial and water shots
- Scouting locations
- Creative time-lapse and motion effects
- Multi-cam filming with multiple phones
- Professional-quality live streaming
- Filming in extreme weather conditions
The Cinema Series lens system debuted at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in January. The solution eliminates the need for big rigs and heavy, expensive camera equipment, letting you capture footage up-close without being intrusive. Paired with the iPhone, the lenses allow users to capture movement like never before in places previously inaccessible with traditional camera equipment.
