Yoshi’s Woolly World and Super Mario Maker come to 3DS
Today’s Nintendo Direct livestream has revealed a flurry of new releases, some of which are games already available on the Wii U.
Both Super Mario Maker and Yoshi’s Woolly World will be coming to 3DS in versions that are almost, but not quite, as functional as their Wii U counterparts. Something tells us that Nintendo is priming its user base for the ‘take your games anywhere’ revolution rumours suggest is coming with the NX.
Super Mario Maker will arrive on the 3DS on December 2 and will allow players to share the courses they design via wireless and StreetPass as well as work together to create new courses collaboratively.
The one glaring absence here is online sharing, which isn’t possible on the 3DS version, nor can players search using Course ID. The game will, however, include 100 pre-made Nintendo runs that can be played right away.
Yoshi’s Woolly World will include all the levels of the Wii U version as well as bonus stages based around Poochy, the super adorbs knitted doggie. Look at him, the bundle of yarny gorgeousness.
The 3DS version of Yoshi’s Woolly World will debut on February 3 next year, and Poochy fans have yet more reason to rejoice: he’s getting his own Amiibo.
Both games scored well upon release but the Wii U’s audience is pitiful when compared to that of the 3DS, which has sold 58 million units.
