James Corden’s first Emoji Movie teaser is here and it’s, well, Meh
We’ll be honest, it’s all a bit Meh. No seriously, the trailer is seen through the eyes of the Meh emoji (Steven Wright) and he’s really, really, really excited for you to see The Emoji Movie.
Columbia Pictures’ 3D animation is the story of Gene (TJ Miller), who unlike all of his fellow emoji is multi-expressional and able to show off a whole range of emotions.
That makes him weird in Emoji Valley, so he sets off on a journey to become a “normal” emoji with one distinct facial expression.
In order to conquer all of the apps he’ll need to travel through, Gene enlists some help from best buddy Hi-Five (Mr Carpool Karaoke himself James Corden) and the hacker Jailbreak (Ilana Glazer).
In case you’re thinking that this seemingly-sweet Emoji Movie is really just one giant cash-grab, the story will prominently include major brands like Spotify as the apps Gene must travel through to become normal.
Make of that what you will…
The Emoji Movie is being brought to life by filmmaker Tony Leondis, who has worked on big-time animated movies like The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride, The Prince of Egypt and Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters as an artist and, in the case of Kung Fu Panda, a director.
The Emoji Movie downloads into UK and US cinemas on Friday, August 4, 2017 – and hey, it might just be good fun after all!
