Sources Reveal Why the iPhone 14 Pro Won’t Have a Flat Camera System

My sources believe Jon received actual pictures of a prototype like what he and Ian Zelbo showed in those renders, but they say that claiming it was the “iPhone 14 Pro” was too risky.
Apple manufactures dozens of prototypes before choosing a final design; in fact, my sources doubt that it was even an iPhone 14 Pro prototype. We could be looking at the iPhone 15 Pro, and we wouldn’t even know it. And that’s the point, when someone receives a picture of a prototype, you never know if it’s what you think it is.
Let me give you an example. A couple of months ago, I showed you an image I received that could have been the new iPhone SE. If I weren’t cautious about it and had claimed that it was indeed the new iPhone SE, I would’ve looked ridiculous once Apple unveiled the device earlier this month.

That’s why we should stay away from these dogmatic statements, especially when we don’t know for sure if what we are saying is 100% true. We can speculate, and that’s what I did. In that article I referenced earlier, I told you that it could be the iPhone SE 3, the iPhone SE 4, or maybe neither.
The point is that while I could have gotten more followers in the short term by Tweeting, “this IS the iPhone SE,” I’m a journalist, and my duty as one is to tell you the truth – and that’s what I try to do. Of course, I’ll get it wrong sometimes, like everyone else, but I try to get it wrong the least amount of times possible.
No offense to Jon; he is a great and reliable leaker, and you should definitely pay attention to what he says. He’s funny and informative, a great guy.
So, Why Won’t the iPhone 14 Pro’s Camera Be Flat?
In Jon Prosser’s renders, the camera system was completely flat, but the new leaked CAD files suggest an even bigger bump. My sources suggest this has to do with the new 48MP sensor that Apple wants to include inside the new iPhone. It simply takes more space; there isn’t much more science behind it.
Don’t get too excited about this new sensor; as I’ve been saying these years, the megapixels don’t matter much in phone cameras. It will be better, that’s true, but don’t expect a massive jump in quality. In fact, I’m sure most of you won’t even be able to tell the difference between the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro cameras unless you make side-by-side comparisons.
Let me know in the comments below what you think about this and if you plan on buying the iPhone 14 Pro. I hope you found this article helpful. As always, have a fantastic day.
